Savannah Asks for Prayers for Missing Mom Nancy Guthrie: ‘We Need You’

The TODAY co-anchor put out a plea for the return of her mother, Nancy, who was reported missing Sunday.

Savannah Guthrie is asking for prayers for her missing mother and calling for her safe return as the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its third day.

The TODAY co-anchor posted a graphic on Instagram on Feb. 2 with the words “Please Pray” alongside a message of faith and hope. Police in Arizona continue to search for Nancy Guthrie, 84, after Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said she was taken from her home outside Tucson against her will.

“we believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness,” Savannah wrote. “we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him.”

“thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant,” she continued. “raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.

“we need you.”

Savannah then included a Bible verse and a plea for her mother’s return after she was last seen on the night of Jan. 31 at her home outside Tucson. She was reported missing at noon on Feb. 1 by her family, police said.

“He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord,’ a verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us,” Savannah wrote. “Bring her home.”

On Feb. 3, the TODAY family reflected on Savannah’s call for prayer.

“I went to my phone and I saw Savannah’s post, and Savannah’s strength gave me strength,” Sheinelle Jones said. “Her resolve, her faith.”

“I saw that post from Savannah last night, I hit my knees and prayed,” Carson Daly said. “I don’t think I’ve ever prayed for anything harder in my life.”

They also spoke about Savannah's tight bond with her mother and shared their prayers and hopes for her safe return.

Craig Melvin called Nancy “a woman who is loved deeply by everyone here at TODAY.”

“Savannah and Nancy have always shared an incredible bond, and over the years she has become a second mom to me and to all of us,” Jenna Bush Hager said.

Nancy has frequently joined Savannah on TODAY over the years for cooking segments, chats with Jenna and even a trip to Australia in 2015, in which they returned to the nation where Savannah was born.

Jenna ended by sending well wishes to the Guthrie family.

“Nancy was tough as the desert, but she was so gentle too, and so we’re just thinking of her and her family today,” she said.
